At the Market

It’s midsummer, and the peak time to visit the market. These are the seasonal foods in central Ohio now, available from local farmers and gardeners: green and wax beans, zucchini and yellow summer squash, eggplant, beets, carrots, cucumbers, kale, Swiss chard, onions, sweet and hot peppers, potatoes, sweet corn, melons, peaches, cherries, tomatoes, garlic, and fresh herbs. You’ll also find meats and cheeses, baked goods, natural snacks and juices, jams and jellies, pickles, barbecue sauce, honey, granola, and more. See you at the market!

Trinity Woolen Mill

Trinity Woolen Mill brings all things “sheepy” to the market! Don and Anne Brown run a wool processing mill on their farm just north of Coshocton, cleaning and preparing wool for handspinners and quilters. They also raise grass-fed lamb, sell fiber from their Lincoln and Blue-faced Leicester sheep, and offer many hand-knit, woven or felted items such as hand bags, shawls, hats, mittens and rugs. Some of their top sellers are handmade beaver and bison moccasins!

In the future, the Browns hope to have the first licensed sheep dairy in Ohio, offering delicious ricotta cheeses. This summer, look for Anne spinning wool at the farmers’ market on Saturday mornings, and check out their unusual and beautiful wool and other items for sale. Call for more information at 330-897-4320, or visit the farm, 15 miles north of Coshocton.
